Celeste Elaine BauerHello! Thank you for taking the time and showing a professional interest in me. I am currently, and happily, employed by Tetra Tech, Inc. as a hydraulic modeling professional. Tetra Tech has been the company I aspired to work for since my very first COOP and I'm thrilled to be apart of this workplace community. My role in the company is an entry level hydraulics and hydrology technical professional, focusing primarily in computer modeling applications for hydraulic systems. For more on my professional experience visit this tab of my website.
College: I graduated from The University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering in the Spring of 2018 with a GPA of 3.4. My focus was in hydrosystems and water and wastewater. I have completed 4 COOP rotations with: Keramida Environmental Inc., Tetra Tech Inc., Center for Urban Green Infrastructure Design and Greater Cincinnati Water Works. I was involved in several volunteering opportunities during my time at UC: Bearcat Buddies, Knit for the Needy, as well as a foster for the SPCA. While taking classes at UC I supported myself through many part time jobs. Most of these grew a passion for hobbies and interests. However, my most memorable job was as a server for Taft's Ale House in OTR, Cincinnati. I take great pride in this place of business and the OTR area as well. The business owners invested millions of dollars to revitalize a historic church building into the beautiful bar that it is today. We were the first business to breathe new life into our block in decades. Since we opened several new businesses and apartment complexes have opened up in the surrounding blocks. Taft's will always hold a special place in my heart and I feel an incredible sense of pride and loyalty to the business and the employees there. Personal: One of my mentors at Greater Cincinnati Water Works told me, "It's the soft skills and your ability to create relationships here that is hard - anyone can learn the material." That being said, here is some of my personal background, to see if I'm the right fit for your company. I have 10 siblings, 5 step sisters, 2 half sisters, 2 half brothers, and 1 brother. I am exactly in the middle at 23 years old. Growing up in a big family, family life is very important to me. Although born in Akron, raised in Columbus, and now living in Cincinnati for school, I have found my home here in Cincinnati. Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy crafting, knitting, sewing, decorating, and hosting events at my apartment. I attend Crossroads Church and am involved in a bible study. Working at Taft's has brought about a love of beer. Some of my favorites we brew are: Froach Fae a heather saison, Moooly Wooly a coffee milk stout, and the Cherrywood Amber a smokey amber. My latest and greatest passion is woodworking, inspired by my dad and grandfather. My favorite things to make are pieces of wood wall art consisting of geometric patterns. I've taken to selling my pieces to friends and at local flea markets. Commitments: I have two Pitt Bull mixes, Cali (bottom) and Remi (top), who are my pride and joys. Cali and I enjoy jogs together and playing fetch at Bellevue Hill Park. Remi and I enjoy sunbathing and long walks. Both are avid grass eaters and love to socialize. Despite the bad reputation Pitts are known to have, these two are lovers to their core and since adopting both of them I have become somewhat of a Pitt Bull advocate. Cali's only crime is licking you to death and Remi's is being the greatest snuggler. Together, us three are fighting to change peoples preconceived conceptions on Pitt Bulls one at a time. As you can see, nothing in my life is half way. I take my commitments very seriously and throw all of myself into my work. I accept nothing less than my very best. I would like to think I am a great asset to my business, exceeding expectations set for me through my outstanding work ethic and passion for the field. Thank you! |
Environmental Engineering
When I was in 5th grade my 2 year old sister let go of one of those helium balloons you get at restaurants. I yelled at my mom and said that they were going to kill the manatees. From this point on I was known as the tree hugger in my family. So when it became time for me to pick my career it only made since. To me, being an Environmentalist means being a constant advocate for our voiceless planet, even if it means taking a personal loss; being an Environmental Engineer means minimizing this personal loss and maximizing environmental gain. My dream job would be to travel to third world countries and bring clean, sustainable water to villages. However, hydraulic modeling has become my passion since graduation and I'm currently striving to further my technical skills in this niche.
